Reform of the EU Regulatory Framework for Electronic Communications

About the Speech:

Fabio Colasanti, DG Information and Media will review the Commission's recent proposals for the review of the regulatory framework for Communications

The focus of this event will be on the regulatory framework for e-communications which is required to meet the needs of tomorrow’s end-users and facilitate a market environment that stimulates investment.

Due to rapid technological convergence end-users are now able to access services (internet and broadband access, TV and film, online books, public voice telephony, video on demand etc) through a range of platforms (fixed and mobile networks, cable power supply etc). Since 2003, the EU Regulatory Framework for e-Communications has played a vital role in driving competition and growth in Europe’s telecom sector. As spectrum availability widens following the switch from analogue to digital in 2012, the regulatory framework needs to evolve with it.
