Reflections on the Treaty of Lisbon

About the Speech:

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr. Brian Lenihan, T.D., will offer his Reflections on the Lisbon Reform Treaty during a keynote address at the Institute of International and European Affairs.

Among other institutional reforms proposed by the Treaty of Lisbon, the field of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters is subject to a change in decision-making procedures (although Ireland and the United Kingdom will have an opt-out from measures adopted in this area). The Institute is privileged to hear the insight of the Minister for Justice on the new Area of Freedom, Security and Justice and other changes contained in the Treaty of Lisbon.

About the Speaker:

Minister Lenihan studied law at Cambridge University, lectured in law at Trinity College Dublin and is a Senior Counsel. He has held the post of Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform since 14 June 2007.
