Policy priorities of the Czech EU Presidency

About the Speech:

Senator Alexandr Vondra, Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, will address members of the IIEA on the Policy Priorities of the Czech Republic for its upcoming EU Presidency, which begins on 1 January 2009.

The address comes at a critical time for the European Union, both in terms of internal and external policies. The Czech Republic, which has promised to “sweeten Europe” according to the Czech Presidency’s motto - Evrope? to osladíme - is part of the presidency "trio" that also includes France and Sweden.

Senator Vondra, a former foreign minister of the Czech Republic, was appointed Deputy Prime Minister (with responsibility for European Affairs) in January 2007. His CV is available here.
