About the Speech:

JUSTICE GROUP MEETING
open to members of the Justice Group only 

Senator Eugene Regan SC will discuss the implications of the Reform Treary for policing and criminal law. These include the removal of the pillar system, extension of co-decision, introduction of qualified majority voting at the Council of Justice and Interior Ministers, and the extension of the ECJ’s jurisdiction to cover all areas that were previously within the third pillar. In addition, he will discuss Ireland’s extended opt-out, which will add all areas that had been in pillar three. Senator Regan is Justice Spokesman of Fine Gael in the Senate, and Leader of the IEA Justice Group.

About the Speaker:

Eugene Regan is a Member of Seanad Eireann, and was previously Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. He is the Fine Gael Seanad Spokesperson on Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
