About the Speech:

Minister for Environment, Dick Roche T.D. will present an overview of The National Climate Change strategy 2007 – 2012.

The Strategy, which was published on Monday 2 April, 2007, stresses the importance of Kyoto compliance and outlines measures which will attempt to put Ireland on the pathway to a low carbon economy, with the main focus on the period to 2012. It contains a number of ambitious proposals for emissions reduction measures in all sectors of the economy, including energy, transport, agriculture, the residential sector and businesses.

The Minister's keynote address will be followed by a questions and answers session.

About the Speaker:

Dick Roche is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician. He is currently a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Wicklow constituency and Minister of State for European Affairs. Roche has also served in Seanad Éireann from 1992–97.
