About the Speech:

Dr Magnus Ranstorp, Director of the Centre for Asymmetric Threat Studies at the Swedish National Defence College, and Colleen P. Graffy, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy, discussed "Approaches towards Prevention of and Response to terrorist radicalisation & violent recruitment in Europe". This event continued the debate on counterterrorism launched at the Institute by Professor George Joffé & Professor Tariq Ramadan last April, and continued by Peter Bergen last December. About the Speaker:

Dr Ranstorp is a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on Violent Radicalisation. Previously he was Director of the CSTPV (Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence) at St Andrews. In 2003 he testified before the 9-11 Commission in its first hearing. Colleen Graffy is US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy, and was Associate Professor of Law at the London Law Programme for Pepperdine University School of Law.
