About the Speaker:

Lt. Gen. Leakey was Director General of the European Union Military Staff from 2007 until May 2010. Previously, he held positions in the UK including Director of Military Operations in the Ministry of Defence and Director General of Army Training and Recruiting. He commanded the European Force (EUFOR) responsible for peace and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2004/5.

About the Speech: 

At this event, Lt. Gen. Leakey talked about his extensive operational and strategic experience to outline how the EU can better respond to future conflicts and security threats in its areas of operation. Among other issues, Lt. Gen. Leakey's presentation addressed the growing importance of civil-military cooperation in the EU's operational theatres.
