About the Speech:

Leading US Energy expert Amory Lovins, delivered the second of the Annual IIEA World of Tomorrow Lecture Series* on the topic; "Profitable, Business-Led Solutions to Oil, Climate and Proliferation".

In his keynote address to the IIEA he demostrated that Climate change, oil dependence, and the spread of nuclear weapons are among the problems that can be profitably solved by using energy in a way that saves money. He demonstrated how oil use in the US can be eliminated by 2040 through a combination of technological innovation and energy efficiency readily transferable to Ireland\'s energy mix. He discussed the benefits of electricity saving techniques and the increasing role played by Micropower in global electricity generation.

About the Speaker:

Mr Lovins is founder and Chief Scientist at the Rocky Mountain Institute in Colorado and a world authority on Energy Efficiency. He has advised a number of Fortune 500 companies from energy and other sectors for more than three decades as well as the U.S. Departments of Energy and Defense. He is a consultant on a project to retrofit the Empire State Building and recently advised companies such as Walmart from 29 different sectors on the redesign of €30bn worth of facilities.
