Incentives for Breaking the Secrecy of Cartels: the EU Experience with Cartel Leniency

About the Speech:

The Competition Authority and the IIEA are privileged to host Dr. Kirtikumar Mehta, Director of Cartels, DG Competition at the European Commission, who addresses the success of the EU programme on immunity and reduction in fines: how the EU has provided consistency, clarity and confidence for immunity candidates, and how the new cartels settlement procedure will complement the EU leniency programme and fining Guidelines.

The panel of commentators includes Peter McCormick, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions; Philip Andrews, Partner and Co-Head of the McCann FitzGerald Competition, Regulated Markets & EU Law Group; and, David McFadden, Legal Advisor to the Competition Authority.

The event will be chaired by Carolyn Galbreath, Member of the Competition Authority and Director of the Cartels Division.
