About the Speech:

Ireland’s relations with its nearest neighbour have never been stronger. The visit of Queen Elizabeth to Ireland in May 2011 marked the culmination of a lengthy negotiation between the two countries which has resulted in a new relationship between Ireland and Britain. Ambassador McDonagh addressed the implications of that new relationship for the future and outlined a new agenda for Ireland and Britain.

About the Speaker:

H.E. Bobby McDonagh was appointed as Irish Ambassador to the United Kingdom in 2009. He previously served as the Permanent Representative of Ireland to the EU. He is the author of Original Sin in a Brave New World: The Paradox of Europe (1998), an IIEA publication.
