On 16 December 2010 Enda Kenny delivered a keynote speech to the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) on the subject of:

"Ireland 2011-2016: rebuilding a country"

Ireland is going through a period which will be seen as pivotal in its history. We are faced with an economic, political and social crisis. With the likelihood of a general election in the coming months, it is very probable that Enda Kenny, the leader of the opposition in Ireland, will play a key role in guiding Ireland through the years that lie ahead.

Enda Kenny has been Minister of State at the Irish Department of Education and Labour. He was also Minister for Trade and Tourism, during which time he chaired the Council of Ministers on trade issues. In opposition, he has held a number of front bench portfolios. He has also served on many Oireachtas committees and co-chaired the Singapore round of the World Trade Organisation talks in 1996. He was elected as Leader of Fine Gael in June 2002. In 2006, he was elected Vice-President of the European People's Party.

Ireland is at a crossroads. We are most interested in hearing  Enda's views as regards how Ireland will deal with the challenges that lie ahead.

This event was open to members and friends of the IIEA. We particularly welcomed newcomers. RSVP. email: iieabrusselsbranch@gmail.com
