Recovering the proceeds of international corruption and fraud - a new perspective

About the speech:

Mr. Alan Bacarese discussed international asset tracing and the recovery of criminal assets in the fight against corruption, fraud and money laundering in the EU. His speech contained an overview of both EU and international trends in corruption and money laundering and the risk posed to our financial centres, as well as developments in the new area of asset recovery.

His work at the International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR) includes: providing legal advice and assistance to law enforcement authorities and anti-corruption agencies in handling specific asset recovery cases; providing an online knowledge centre with comprehensive information on various jurisdictions, legislation and law enforcement agencies, which deal with asset recovery processes and anti-money laundering; and providing assistance in the implementation and review of legal systems and institutions for anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.

About the speaker:
Mr. Alan Bacarese is the Head of Legal & Case Consultancy at the International Centre for Asset Recovery in the Basel Institute on Governance.
