On Wednesday 3 October 2007, the IEA hosted a conference on Flexicurity with Patricia O’Donovan, Executive Director of the Management and Administration Sector, International Labour Organisation (ILO), and David Croughan, Chief Economist, Irish Business and Employers Confederation (IBEC).

In her address entitled: "The World Of Work Beyond The EU: Challenges And Opportunities", Patricia O’Donovan gave an international perspective on the implementation and the practicability of flexicurity while examining the consequent impact on the labour market in the EU and beyond. David Croughan responded with his insights on flexicurity and its suitability for the Irish economic model.
