On Tuesday 22nd November 2011, Ambassador Thorir Ibsen,  Icelandic Mission to the European Union, and Pat Cope Gallagher MEP, President of the European Parliament EEA Committee, will speak to the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) Brussels Branch on the subject of: 

"Iceland - out of crisis, into Europe" 

Iceland, like Ireland, in recent years has suffered a major financial crisis including the collapse of its banking system.   Iceland is now well on the way to emerging from the crisis and is at an advanced stage of negotiating accession to the European Union.   Our guest speakers are ideally placed to comment and give us the benefit of their reflections on this situation.
