Gilles de Kerchove is Director for police, customs and judicial cooperation at the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union. Mr de Kerchove spoke on the progress of the Hague Program and the integration of the new accession countries into the area of freedom, security and justice.

About the Speaker:

Gilles de Kerchove d'Ousselghem is director for the Justice and Home Affairs General Directorate in the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union in Brussels, a position he has held since 1995. Dr. de Kerchove also holds associate professorship positions at several institutions including the Catholic University of Louvain, the Free University of Brussels, and the National School of Administration in Strasbourg.
