About the Speech:

Today there are few that would deny that there are major problems in the design of the Eurozone. One problem has come to high prominence recently; the lack of a banking union to go with Europe's monetary union. In his presentation at the IIEA, Governor Noyer spoke about a financial union for Europe and the other challenges in 'Fixing Europe's Financial Crisis'.

About the Speaker:

Christian Noyer is the Governor of the Bank of France. Prior to becoming Governor, he was vice-president of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank from 1998 until 2002. From 1976 until 1997 he held a series of positions in the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance. Since March 2010, Governor Noyer has also served as Chairman of the Bank for International Settlements.
