Financing the Transition to a Low-Carbon Economy

About the Speech:

James Cameron of Climate Change Capital discussed the concept of “Creating Wealth Worth Having” and the role of private capital as part of the solution to climate change. He discussed the need for systematic changes to the rules of the game to re-align interests in order to mobilize capital flows towards low-carbon investments. He went on to discuss the connection between public policy, technological innovation and financial flows.

Drawing on his personal involvement in previous international climate change negotiations, he then gave an assessment on what he expects to happen at the UNFCCC negotiations in Copenhagen this December.

About the Speaker:

Mr. Cameron is Vice Chairman and Co-Founder of Climate Change Capital, which was recently named as one of the world’s top pioneers in the business of social innovation. He is also Chairman of the Carbon Disclosure Project, treasurer of REEEP, a senior advisor to The Climate Group, and a member of the board of GE Ecomagination, the Copenhagen Climate Council and the World Economic Forum Climate Council.
