The speech focused on the Digital Single Market and the steps required to complete it. The Digital Single Market project is an attempt by the European Commission to resolve the patchwork of fragmented national online markets and establish a European digital market. It is estimated that a functioning European Digital Single Market could account for an increase of 4% of GDP by 2020.

About the Speaker:

Fabian Zuleeg is the Chief Economist of the European Policy Centre, a Brussels-based think-tank. Mr Zuleeg's work in outlining the potential growth implications and the economic rationale behind the Digital Single Market played a key role in the establishment of the project.
