The role of Energy Security in the EU’s external relations

About the speech:

Energy Issues have risen to the top of the EU Agenda and are now genuinely part of the EU’s foreign policy agenda. Expertly illustrating the interrelationship between both he first showed how foreign policy is influenced by energy security with an overview of the recent Ukraine-Russia gas standoff and an insight to how energy security is shaping the EU's relationship with countries in the Caspian Sea region and Central Asia. Moving on to how energy security considerations inform Foreign Policy, he looked at how nuclear proliferation guides and influences EU relations with countries such as Iran.
