About the Speech:

The IIEA was delighted to be hosting a meeting of the Economists Group with Professor John FitzGerald, Research Professor at the Economic and Social Research Institute, on the topic “Paths to Recovery” on Tuesday 28 April 2008. This meeting provided an insight into Professor FitzGerald’s assessment of the state of the Irish economy and the remedial action required to restore growth and employment.

About the Speaker:

John D. FitzGerald is head of the Macroeconomics and Resourse economics Division and coordinator of the research programme of macroeconomics of the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) in Dublin, Ireland. He joined the ESRI in 1984, after 12 years at the Department of Finance. He holds Master's degrees in History and Economics from University College Dublin.
