About the Event:

Since the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty, the European Parliament has played an increasingly assertive role both in shaping legislation and in setting the policy agenda of the European Union.

One example lies in the European Parliament’s Special Committee on the Financial, Economic and Social Crisis (CRIS-Committee), which is bringing together experts from academia, politics, industry and civil society to discuss the ongoing impact of the crisis and the European Union’s response to it.

At this event, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr Wolf Klinz MEP, the conclusions of the Committee's interim report, and outlined the necessary next steps in the EU’s policy response to the crisis.

More information about the work of the CRIS-Committee can be found here.
