Carbon Energy Taxation – the European Experience”, published by Oxford University press, was launched in the IIEA. Professor Paul Ekins is co-editor of the publication and Professor of Energy and Environment Policy at University College London. Professor Frank Convery, Heritage Trust Professor of Environmental Policy, and Director of Urban Institute Ireland, University College Dublin, will make a short response.

The book is based on the COMETR project in which ESRI was a partner, and seeks to explore the implications for the environment and the economy of the introduction of a carbon tax, when revenue is used to reduce other taxes. The book includes the chapter “Assessing Vulnerability of Selected Sectors under Environmental Tax Reform: The issue of pricing power” by J. Fitz Gerald (ESRI), M. Keeney (Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland) and S. Scott (ESRI).
