About this Event

10 May 2007

Joint IEA/Competition Authority event

About the Speakers:

Miguel de la Mano, Economist at DG Competition, European Commission, discussed the Commission\'s recent draft guidelines on non-horizontal mergers (both vertical and conglomerate). The Competition Authority’s perspective was presented by Paul Gorecki, analysing the Irish experience with non-horizontal mergers. Gerald FitzGerald, Partner at McCann FitzGerald, was the second respondent. This event was chaired by Dr. Stanley Wong, Director of Monopolies Division, The Competition Authority.

This event is especially timely: By 12 May 2007 interested parties must have submitted their observations to the Commission on non-horizontal mergers (a merger between companies who at different levels of the supply chain, or who are active in separate but related markets).
