Annual State of the Union Address 2010

Download the audio podcast of the event here

About the Speech:

Minister Martin will outline the current condition and position of the European Union, before outlining the Irish agenda in Europe, as well as Ireland’s priorities in Europe over the coming year. The importance of this address is heightened by the fact that it will be made in the wake of two referenda on the Lisbon Treaty in Ireland, as well as a Europe-wide economic downturn, which has left the Union with a number of severe challenges over the course of the coming year.

About the Speaker:

Mr Micheál Martin, TD, was appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs in May 2008.  Prior to this appointment, Minister Martin served as Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment from September 2004 to May 2008, Minister for Health from January 2000 to September 2004 and Minister for Education and Science from June 1997 to January 2000.
