On Monday 11th May, Dr. Alex Bowen addressed a meeting of the Climate Change Group on the topic of "Turning Crisis into Opportunity: The Case for a \'Green\' Stimulus"
Dr. Bowen presented an outline of the policy brief he recently co-wrote (with Sam Fankhauser, Nicholas Stern and Dimitri Zenghelis), "An Outline of the Case for a \'Green\' Stimulus", and discussed the economic case for both fiscal stimulus packages and \'green\' expenditure. About the Speaker:
Dr. Bowen is a Principal Research Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He previously worked at the Bank of England, most recently as a Senior Policy Advisor. He graduated in economics from Clare College, Cambridge, and received a PhD from M.I.T. where he studied as a Kennedy Scholar. His areas of expertise include the macroeconomic aspects of climate change and the design of policy regimes for tackling harmful climate change.
