On Friday 20 March, 2009 at 12.45 p.m., Dr. Minxin Pei addressed a meeting of the China group on "The Impact of Nationalism on the Development of 21st century China."
Dr. Pei addressed the important issue of increasing nationalism in China today and the effect that this will have on China’s internal stability and its relations with both Asian and Western partners.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Pei is a Senior Associate of the Asia programme at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Washington D.C. He earned his PhD at Harvard University and his areas of expertise include East Asia, domestic Chinese affairs and U.S.-China relations. He has been published in Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs, China Quarterly, Journal of Democracy the Financial Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Newsweek International and International Herald Tribune.
